Solstice Readings

In reverence for this astrological celebration, I feel its best to include some Michael Tsarion links that will give us something real to think about in 2009.

Here is a great quote from Chapter One, Volume One of The Irish Origins of Civilization:

The man living his life in confusion, impotency, and fear, is the man expertly trained to forget where he has come from. From his precarious pedestal his vision of the world is skewed and limited and his fall into the void prevented only by externally provided stabilizers. Such a man remains existentially weak, like a fragile sapling in danger of breaking in a light breeze let alone in a mighty storm. Alternatively, the strong man has a sense of where he has come from. He stands upon his own feet and from a stable pedestal views both past and future with clear fearless eyes. He does not prevaricate when it comes to questions of justice. He hastens to challenge those who would strangle him in webs of ignorance and works relentlessly to expose the criminality of those who have in ages past massacred his ancestors, and presently threaten his hard won physical and mental freedom. The strong man knows his job is to build well upon the solid foundations laid by his ancestors. He wages perpetual war against those who attempt to burn down those foundations. Serving the will of his ancestors is the strong man’s passion. The weak man, on the other hand, meekly heeds the commands of deceivers bent upon using ancient occult knowledge to physically and spiritually undermine his brothers and sisters in the world. The strong undefeatable man knows his enemies and how to correctly deal with them. He has studied their nature and the knowledge they perversely use as a weapon against him and all humanity.

The simple minded will believe anything: but the wise looketh well into everything he does – (Proverbs 14:15)

And this from the Introduction of Volume Two:

The Apocalypse

Clearly, it appears that we are relatively unaware of the pervasiveness and subtlety of the mechanisms of mass control. Even though there have been many clear examples of it before our eyes during the last 200 years, it remains a very peripheral study and not one that is commonly broached. Despite this reticence, and the preoccupation with more palatable subjects, there is a growing interest in the ways human beings are controlled. The reason for this slow awakening has to do with mankind’s so-called “darker side.” It is our awareness of the catalog of crime and injustice that often succeeds in prompting us to investigate human nature more closely. Astrologically, this need to see beneath the surface of things is “ruled” by the planet-archetype Pluto. The energy represented by this planet-archetype (that of deconstruction, ending, and revelation) will be increasing in intensity during the early part of the new millennium. This increase will be experienced as very uncomfortable by people who have lived their entire lives under “consensus trance” and who have not developed the mental equipment to objectively critique their lifestyles or environment.

The challenge that “Plutonic” energy augurs is necessary for the return of hygiene to the now very toxic collective and personal psyche. Many of the tribulations that we will see socially, politically, ideologically, and psychologically, will be occurring as a result of this intensification of “Plutonic” light. Indeed, as competent astrologers know, one long Precessional Age (that of Pisces) is coming to its close. Another Age (the Aquarian) is set to begin in a relatively short time from now and we are presently in the middle of the transitional or “cusp” phase. The Maya priests, the celestial time-keepers of South America, referred to this period of transition as the “Age of Revealing.” The author of the Book of Revelation referred to it as a time of “Apocalypse.” This word connotes the removal of a leather cover and is a reference to the human persona or mask rather than to any other binding or cover.

Jesus said: When you see your likeness, you rejoice. But when you see your images which came into existence before you, which neither die nor are made manifest, how much will you bear? – (Gospel of Thomas)

What you do not bring forth from within you, will destroy you Jesus said, "Whoever knows the all but fails to know himself lacks everything – (Gospel of Thomas)

The Age of Revealing (or of Apocalypse) is a time when the masks of the false are removed, and when man gets his chance to see who and what he is without filter or censor. Works such as this one, which delve into hidden origins, are symptomatic of this phase-shift into the time when men get the rare chance to find out what has been kept from them, and to have the answers concerning their true origins and destiny. Primarily, the presence of Plutonic (and also Uranian) energy hearkens in a Spirit of Rebellion. This spirit comes to assist in the process of revelation. It also compels us to resist conformity. As a result of its presence the autocratic forces in the world, that contrive to maintain group-think and who benefit from mankind’s unquestioning obedience, become even more tyrannous and aggressive. They manufacture more ingenious devices to ensure that people do not go AWOL. Pluto signals major revisions in the social order, and large scale maneuvers from the power-brokers within governments.

The harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity. And shall cast them into a furnace of fire – (Matt 13)

In extreme cases the presence of this Spirit of Rebellion can make for radical changes affecting every facet of our lives. It can bring events to a head and demand a phase of total deconstruction in which all the accepted customs and idioms that we take for granted, on all fronts, are abolished. As said, this particular eventuality will greatly threaten and compromise the masses of people in the world who will feel stripped naked and bereft of security or purpose.

Last, but not least, especially during this time of Sun-God worship, is an excerpt from the Introduction of Astrotheology & Sidereal Mythology:

THE ANCIENT CULTS OF POWER

…the very basis of mythology lies in the idolatrous worship of the solar great father, and the lunar great mother, who were the first objects of worship that the history of the race records – William Tyler Olcott (Sun Lore of All Ages)

People of the world go about their business, working and sleeping, buying and selling, and worshipping in front of altars, unaware that there were once at least four great cults operating in the ancient world and that the various traditions and customs of these ancient cults were the basis for the Judeo-Christian religion. Indeed, as several investigators have pointed out, Vatican-style Latin Catholicism, and Christianity in general, is replete with pagan motifs. Protestant churchmen have labored to sanitize their version of Christianity by expunging the more obvious pagan elements. However, their efforts only suffice up to a point. They have not succeeded in their task and for good reason. To wholly erase the pagan elements from Christianity is tantamount to erasing the religion itself.

The dress and ornaments of the Romish priest are borrowed from the heathens. The Phoenician priests wore surplices. Lambskin was worn by the Persian priests. The pelt, which the canons wear with the fur outward, is a memorial of the custom of the early heathens, who having killed the beasts for sacrifice, flayed them and taking the skins put them over their head with the fur outwards. On the saccos, or episcopal garment of the Russian bishops, are suspended small silver bells which were also worn on the robes of the priests of Persia…The crosier, or pastoral staff of the Pope, was also used by the Druids, and answers to the lituus of the Roman augurs and the hieralpha of the Hindoos – W. Winwood Reade (The Veil of Isis: Or Mystery of the Druids)

We are not being irreverent or flippant when we say that there is not a single element of Judeo-Christian doctrine or dogma that did not originate in the pagan world. When Christians bend their knees before their "Lord," for example, they do so unaware they reproduce a ritual once sacred to Thoth, the ibis-headed god of the moon. When Christians bury their dead beneath the ground they do so unaware they emulate the rites of the Osirian priesthood who solemnly believed a traversal of the "Underworld" (known as Duat, Amenta or Nekya) was necessary before a soul could transcend to higher planes of existence. When they speak of being born again in the "blood of the lamb," they do so unaware they are referring to the astrological sign of Aries wherein the "reborn" sun appears each year. When families gather at Christmas time, when they celebrate the festival of lights, roll eggs at Easter, or dance jigs, they do so unaware of the reasons. Astrology, Sabeanism, and Uranography mean nothing to them. The revelry during familiar ceremonies provides sufficient sensational distraction. Knowledge and understanding are not invited. Their presence would only spoil the fun.

The earliest books of our Bible are astrological, and are filled with priceless ancient wisdom told in myth, fable, and allegory – E. Valentia Straiton (The Celestial Ship of the North)

As late as the fifth and sixth centuries, the words "Our Lord, the Sun," were used by the Christians in their prayers. This same phrase was also used in the Liturgy until altered later into "Our Lord, our God" – Bozena Brydlova (Io Unveiled)

Happy Festivus!!
